Conference Scholarships



Scholarship Application Submission Deadline: November 13, 2009



Two types of scholarships are available in limited numbers for K-12 teachers and students attending the conference:

  • Registration Scholarships: cover the conference registration fees for locals or out-of-town attendees. Workshop registration fees are not included in the scholarships.
  • Accommodations Scholarships: cover hotel accommodations at the Hotel Arizona for the nights of Thursday, January 28 – Saturday, January 30. These scholarships are available only for visitors coming from outside the Tucson area.

To be considered for a scholarship, you must

  • Be a K-12 teacher or a student.
  • Provide proof of eligibility: Download and complete the appropriate form, obtain the required signature(s) and submit the form with your application
  • Register for the conference online using the registration link at: http://cercll.arizona.edu/icc_2010_register.php. Be sure to check the circle that asks whether you are applying for a scholarship.
  • In a typed statement of 200 to 400 words, explain why you want to attend the conference and what you hope to get out of the event.
  • On your statement page include your name, affiliation and indicate whether you are applying for (a) a registration scholarship, (b) an accommodations scholarship, or (c) both.
  • Submit the registration form online; and send the proof of eligibility and statement to CERCLL as an e-mail attachment or by fax.

If you are applying for a scholarship, you must check the scholarship button on the online registration form.

  • If you have indicated there that you are applying, you are not required to pay until after you know whether you have received a scholarship.
  • If your application is not successful, CERCLL will contact you by November 23rd to request your payment details. You will remain eligible for the Early Bird rates, even though the Early Bird deadline will have passed by that time.

Scholarship recipients agree to the following obligations:

  • Registration Scholarships:

Recipients must submit to CERCLL a description of their experiences related to the conference by March 1st, 2010.

  • Accommodations Scholarships:

Recipients must submit to CERCLL a lesson plan or other curriculum unit related to the conference as well as copies of outstanding student project(s) resulting from that material. These items must be received by CERCLL no later than December 1st, 2010.

These materials may be selected for use in future advertising and other promotional and/or educational activities conducted by the conference organizers; curriculum materials will be shared with other K-16 educators on the organizers’ websites. All materials will be properly attributed to their writer and may be shared nationally. The conference certificate for AZ Continuing Education will be sent to scholarship recipients after they submit these materials to CERCLL and have completed their obligations.

All applications must be received by CERCLL by the November 13th deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
